Jane Wallace Rushing

Our beloved mother, daughter, sister, aunt, Ya-Ya, and
friend went home peacefully to be with her Lord at her
home in the loving presence of her family on April 25, 2010. She was
born March 10, 1960 in Sonora, Texas, to George and
Martha Wallace. Jane is the fourth generation to be
born, raised, and reside in Sutton County. Jane
worked for the family ranch for seventeen years. She
became an ordained minister of the gospel of Christ in
2006. Her life’s passion and heart’s desire was to love
people and communicate God’s great merciful love.
She discipled countless people from all over; all
walks, all ages. Her greatest joy was ministering God’s
transforming power to other’s lives, to see Jesus
make all things new. Jane especially lived to serve
and be available to others. She was remarkably strong
in her two year battle with cancer. She gave of herself
even to the very last hour. Everyone who knew Jane
was touched by her life and her love. In every way her
life embodied the Biblical passage I Corinthians 13,
familiarly known as the “love” chapter. Jane was a
graduate of Sonora High School. She was a member
of Lighthouse Community Church and served there in
many capacities. She was very active in the Emmaus
community, prison ministry, and taught Bible studies.
Jane was preceded in death by her father and best
friend, George Dee Wallace. Jane is loved and
survived by her children, daughter and son-in-law
Heather and Cole Cearley of Sonora, Texas, daughter
Hillary Lawson of Lubbock, Texas, and sons, Hunter
Lawson and Straton Rushing of Sonora, Texas,
grandchild, Lynden Cearley, mother Martha Wallace,
and brothers and sisters-in-law, Joe and Ginger
Wallace of Hereford, Texas, David and Beth Wallace of
Sonora, Texas, and Drew and Lisa Wallace of San
Angelo, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is also survived by Trey Rushing, Ben and Lenora
Pool, Jack Lawson, and Don and Mary Lawson.
Pallbearers are Jim Gulley, Kyle Dover, Jody Luttrell ,
Mike Moore, Stanley James, Stanley Adams, Tony
Renfro, Seserio Lozano, Paul Stephens, Todd Munn,
and Sonny Samaniego. The family wishes to thank
Trey Rushing, Ben and Lenora Pool, and Jim and
Rhonda Gulley for their loving care and devotion. The
family would like to extend their appreciation to the
health care providers, Dr. Kristi Edwards, Kristen
Dunlap, Laura Blaylock, and Veronica Fierro. Also
thanks to Sutton County EMS, Kathy Hearn and Imelda
Barrera. As an expression of sympathy, donations
may be made to a charity of your choice.

Catching fireflies

Since I was a little girl one of my fondest memories was being at my grandparent's house and going out on the front porch to catch fireflies. As I would run out the door, I would hear a show by Catherine Kuhlman on TV. She would say, "I believe in miracles." That is something that I have never forgotten. It still rings in my heart today. Then later that night I would hear another show come on their television. It would be Oral Roberts and he was singing, "Something good is going to happen to you, happen to you, this very day. Something good is going to happen to you. Jesus, of Nazareth, is passing your way". As I rest these days, those two shows still play in my heart. I am so glad that he is a God of miracles and nothing is too hard for him. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Here is the lyrics of another song that I wanted to share with all of you.

He'll do it again
By Karen Wheaton

You may be down and feel God has somehow forgotten
You are faced with circumstances
That you can't get through
Tonight it just seems there's now way outIn natural you could just go under
But God has proven time and time again
He'll take care of you
He'll do it again
He'll do it again
You just take a look where you are now
And where you've been
He'll see hasn't
He always come through
For you
He's the same God has always been
You may not know how,You may not know when
But He'll do it againHe knows the things that you're going through
He knows how you're hurting
He's been there and He understands how your heart
Has been broken in twoHe's the God of the stars
The sun and the seasThat God is your Father
Tonight He can calm the storm
And He'll find some way to fix this for you
He'll do it againHe'll do it again
You just take a look where you are now
And where you've been
He'll see hasn't He always come through
For youHe's the same God has always been
You may not know how,You may not know when
But He'll do it again

Update: Still resting good. Feeling better with everyday! Pray for me to have extra energy this week. I am going to do my best to get up and out of bed. Thank you so much for your prayers, food, and flowers.

Kari Jobe Healer

Isaiah 43

Today has been a great day! All the rest that Mom has been getting is paying off and she is feeling much better. We didn't realize how truly tired she was. It is still important to rest and we sometimes have to remind her that it is time to nap. (Which is what she is doing now!) But she did have a few scriptures and a song that she wanted me to share with all of you.

Isaiah 43: 1-4

But now, this is what the LORD says—he who created you, Jacob, he who formed you, Israel: "Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. 2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. 3 For I am the LORD your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior; I give Egypt for your ransom, Cush and Seba in your stead. 4 Since you are precious and honored in my sight, and because I love you, I will give nations in exchange for you, and peoples in exchange for your life.

We are looking forward to a great weekend and enjoying the rain!

April 12th

Good Afternoon! We have had another good day of rest! Mammy (Martha) read Jane the book of Galatians this morning. Mom relaxed and enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere! She then got to play with Lynden! By play, I mean feed Lynden ice. Mom started doing this soon after she got home and now LC expects it. She sits down on Ya-Ya's bed starts with a fake cough and wants ice. If she doesn't get it, she starts crawling all over Ya-Ya and reaching for every cup in sight. She has slept so well today. She woke up this afternoon and said, "Man, I was sleeping hard." Thank you for all your prayers!

Learning to Rest

Well, hello again. I just wanted to update everyone on what is going on. Jane is doing good. She has always been a very busy person and it is not easy for her to slow down and let others do for her. Her pain is much better and is allowing her to rest more. She doesn't like the fact that she is so sleepy but she has lots of sleep to catch up on! You don't get much rest in the hospital. The nurses have explained to her that is important for her body to rest in the healing process.
The LORD replied, "My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest." -Exodus 33:14
We cannot express our gratitude enough for those of you that have brought food. We are so blessed to be surrounded by so many amazing people. I will try to update again tomorrow.
Thank you, Heather

April 11th Update

Due to the amount of phone calls and emails, I thought it might be easier to do a blog to keep people updated on how I have been feeling. I was very blessed to get to come home on Thursday. We are currently working on adjusting my medicine to control my pain. Yesterday I was even able to get out of the bed and sit in a chair for around thirty minutes. Isn't God good?
I really appreciate all the thoughts, prayers, and food. I am doing my best to rest and allow my body to heal. I apologize if I don't get to talk to you on the phone or see you when you come by. I will do my best to update the blog as much as I can. Please continue to pray!
